Yasmin is the daughter of Magon Ali Talukdar House of Charlakshya Union of Karnafuli Upazila. Yasmin got married at a very young age after the death of her father in a family of poverty. After the birth of a son, her husband abandoned her and became destitute. Yasmin came to the sick mother's house with her own child. As there was no way of income, she started begging. She was struggling to pay for her sick mother's treatment, her own sustenance and her children's education with what she got by begging from door to door all day long. Thus, one day while begging, she met Nur Akther, a technical trainer working in Upazila Social Services Office, Karnafuli, Chittagong. Technical trainer Nur Akther first brought her under the social service office's widow and destitute women allowance. She later brought Yasmin under the beggar rehabilitation and alternative employment program run by the Social Services Office. Under the said programme, Yasmin was given a milch cow. She was also given interest-free loans from the social services office. After receiving the loan money and the cow, Yasmin gave up begging. Under the close supervision of the Social Services Office, Yasmin is currently supporting her son's education by selling cow's milk and doing small business. A small initiative of social services office has changed the life of beggar Yasmin. She left begging and is now self-reliant. She thanked all the officers and employees of the social services office for making her self-reliant. She wished for the future prosperity of the government for such a great initiative of the Bangladesh government.
